Baker's Dozen

Our little peanut is now a baker's dozen!  She was 13 pounds, 4 ounces at her last weigh-in on Thursday.  She is staying healthy and happy and doing great.  She is doing so well that our visiting nurse is going to stop coming after her next visit.  The nurse has been seeing Emma since the day after she came home; weekly at first then every other week for last few months to check her vitals, listen to her lungs, and weigh her, among other things.  Emma has been gaining weight steadily and has no other complications.  Although we are thrilled that Emma is so healthy, we will miss seeing her nurse (and getting the regular weight checks!).  Emma still has her physical therapist coming to see her once a month, and she will see the eye doctor next month for a check-up, but other than that, she just sees her pediatrician for the regular well-visits!  We are just so proud of our happy and healthy little girl.

Emma tried mum-mums today and seemed to like them.

Then we went to our local 4-H fair and hung out with some furry four-legged friends!

As always, Emma loved checking out all the new sights.

We had a great time!  Emma looks good as a farmer, don't you think?  She's a future Cloverbud for sure!

9+ Months!

Emma reached the 9 month milestone in the time since the last update!  She is still doing great and we are having a blast.  At her last weigh-in she was 12 lbs., 13 ounces.  She has pretty much mastered sitting up on her own, and she is making all kinds of new noises.  Her newest sound is a high-pitched shriek that apparently she got from her mom?!?!  Oops!  I hope she doesn't have an affinity for escalators, too!

Emma has added blueberries, nectarines, and prunes to her food list.  We even tried some baby puffs today too!

And she still hates peas.  Hates them.

Emma has met some great new people too.  She met Matt's aunt and uncle last Saturday, and her honorary "Aunt" Cait too!

This weekend Emma had her first (two night!) sleepover at Memere and Grandpa's and everyone had a great time!  We were told that she behaved herself and didn't cause too much trouble.  We got to catch a Sox game with Grandma and Grandpa R. and then went to a beautiful wedding on Saturday.  Congrats John and Meg, and thanks to all of our family and friends for a wonderful weekend!!

Happy 4th of July!

Emma has recently taken up reading.  She always loves being read to, but now she loves playing with the touchable books.

She is even learning to turn the pages!

Gotta do a taste test, of course!

That's not my pony!

Pony?  I'm getting a pony?!

This is the closest I could get to her snacking on her toes.  She moves quickly!

First piggy-back ride?!

This weekend we traveled up to Albany for Emma's cousin Ayla's Christening.  We had a wonderful time, and finally got to meet Ayla! The girls hit it off right away.

Emma got all dolled up for the Christening (with a little help from Ayla for her shoes!)

When we got home, we tried to do a patriotic photo shoot.

And then went to see the fireworks.  Emma couldn't believe how many people were there!

We played for a little while, and then watched the fireworks when it got dark.  She loved watching them and was such a good girl, even though it was past her bedtime!

We hope everyone had a happy Fourth of July!
